Paternity - General

Paternity is the legal identification of a child's natural father when the parent's are not married. Once paternity is established, the child has the same rights to financial support as a child born to married parents.

Paternity can be established until the child reaches the age of eighteen. Paternity can also be established in cases where the alleged father lives in another state or country.

There are other messages giving more information for both the mother and the alleged father on this subject. Those items can be found in the menu in the "Family" section.
