Traffic - Is it an offense to drive at night with the dome light on?
Question
A driver is driving at night, is the only occupant in the vehicle and
is driving with dome light on. Can that driver be stopped and given a ticket,
calling the light a distraction?
Answer
A district court magistrate reports that he knows of no such primary offense.
An officer may issue such a ticket when a person is stopped for another
offense; this, in turn, could be contested in court.
