Child Support - May the custodial parent continue to receive child support
when the child is place out of the home?
Question
My son is 16. If my son is put in youth home for probation
violation, do I still receive child support with him not being in my home?
Answer
Unless a court order directs otherwise, you would likely still remain the
recipient of support. The court normally considers the custodial
parent as the recipient of support under those circumstances because the
custodial parent still has to maintain the home for the child.
