Emancipation - Is an emancipated minor subject to the graduated driver
license requirements?
Question
If you become an emancipated minor at the age of 16 and you don't have
your license yet, how would you go about getting it? Would the emancipated
minor still be under the law and have to wait and go through level 2 and
then receive your full license at 18? Or would being an emancipated
minor overrule that and allow you to receive your full license and bypass
level 2?
Answer
An emancipated minor would not need the permission of his or her parents
to apply for a driver's license. However, the graduated license requirement
apply to any person under the age of 18. Therefore, an emancipated
minor would be subject to these requirement because of age.
