Emancipation - Does a minor become emancipated when she becomes pregnant
or gives birth?
Question
My question relates to an underage (under 18 in Michigan) pregnant girl.
Is she only permitted to make decisions regarding her baby and her pregnancy,
or can she also make decisions regarding herself (or are her parents responsible
for her)?
Answer
A minor in Michigan does not become emancipated by becoming pregnant or
having a child. She would remain a minor under the care and custody
of her parents.
