Minors - May a foster parent sign for a foster child's driver's permit?
Question
We have a temporary foster child who is eligible for a driver's permit.
Parents are not around and in all likelihood will not be for some period
of time. Can Family Independence Agency (FIA) worker sign for her
permit? Seems I read something somewhere at sometime regarding this.
Can you help?
Answer
The Secretary of State web site says a parent, legal guardian or responsible
adult may sign. I would think a foster parent would qualify as a
responsible adult.
