Juvenile - If a juvenile leaves Michigan and refuses to return, what action
may be taken by his parents or guardian?
Question
If a 16 year old unemancipated male goes for a parental approved vacation
and then says he misses all his friends and is not coming back, will the
state of Michigan return him to his state of residence?
Answer
There is a procedure under the Interstate Compact for the return of runaways
between states. This is handled through the Family Independence Agency.
