Emancipation - Who can file a petition for emancipation of a minor?
Question
Who can file on behalf of a minor for emancipation? Can the biological
father who signed off rights when the child was 5 years old. He was
lied to by the mother saying that the child had a good home life although
there is abuse. She had told him that he could see the child but
she lied. Can the grandmother petition for the child with the child
wanting out of his parents house?
Answer
Only the minor may file a petition for emancipation.
