Juvenile Record - What are the consequences of having a juvenile record?
Question
What are the consequences of having a juvenile record and how does it affect
you presently and in the future?
Answer
It may depend on the charge(s) for which you were adjudicated. Many
juvenile offenses are now reported to the state's criminal history reporting
division; these are available when a criminal history check is done.
A juvenile record may be factored into sentencing if a person commits offenses
as an adult; it may affect a person's ability to enlist for military service;
it may impact a person's ability to obtain employment or certain types
of employment. In short, there are many ways a juvenile record may
potentially impact a person's future.
