Can the parent of a 15 year old force her to have an abortion?
Answer
Not in Michigan. In Michigan a parent can not force a minor to have
an abortion. MCL 722.903 provides that "a person shall not perform
an abortion on a minor without first obtaining the written consent of the
minor." Therefore, unless the minor consents in writing, an abortion
on a minor is against the law. In fact, MCL 722.907 makes it a crime
for anyone who intentionally performs an abortion on a minor without first
obtaining a written consent from the minor.
